Introducing Targeting In Adslot Media
- The Targeting category allows the campaign to be delivered across multiple different target markets.
- There is a wide selection of targeting options to chose from for a placement/package within a campaign which includes technology (devices), geography and data segments (Advertisers 1st Party, Publisher 1st Party, and 3rd Party).
Where Is Targeting Located?
- Select a campaign and go to the Plan > Media Schedule tab within the campaign. If there is a line item (placement or package) already within the Media Schedule, the Targeting column will be located between the Duration and Start Date columns on the media schedule.
How To Apply Different Targeting Options
- Go to the desired placement/package you wish to apply targeting for and select the Optional text in the Targeting column.
- The Targeting and Comments pop up window will appear. On the left side of this pop up window, there should be a Select section underneath the Targeting tab where folders of different segments are listed underneath, see below as an example.
- To see the different options for each targeting segment, click on the folder icon next to the segment's name.
Continue clicking on the segment's name until the + icon is higlighted blue. Selecting the + icon will take the chosen segment to the right side of the page which is labelled Selected Items and labelled with the segment's name (Geography).
5. Before saving the selected Targeting, there is also a Comments tab, where you can write a description regarding the target market.
6. The added targeting segments will usually change the available impressions for the line item which can be seen in the Available column (which pulls avails from the Publisher's Ad Server).
7. Once you have all desired targeting applied, click Save on your plan.
Quick Tips
- Not all products have targeting enabled. Targeting must be enabled by the Publisher on the Adslot Publisher platform. If there is a targeting segment or target that you wish to have enabled that is not available, simply message the publisher via the Inbox.
- Many products will have targeting parameters built in, for example, “US Geo.” If a product has a targeting parameter built-in, it will be specified in the name, such as “ROS” or “RON” or “US” or be labelled Pre-configured targeting in the Targeting and Comments Selected Items.
If there is no targeting specified in the product name, it is safe to assume that this product has open targeting and you should apply any targeting that you feel necessary, such as geo or device targeting. - Some products will have targeting Required instead of Optional which means you must choose a target to configure and sign off on this product.
